I have done an update to the forum software and due to the modifications I have installed there were a few problems. I am working on fixing them but there may be a few glitches while I update files. Sorry for the inconvenience, I will sort it out as quickly as I can.

I think it's working ok again now but please let me know if you find something that's still wrong.

Due to the hassle of updating with lots of mods I have decided not to install all of them again. I can't seem to get the smilie creator to work now so that is no longer available.

I'm going to force myself to stop adding stuff that's not really really needed. I did the topic titles on the right to link straight to the last post because I reckon that's worthwhile. The extra buttons for Addthis and the RSS feed is so simple and not a problem to do again so they're back but we'll see how we get on without the other stuff. I could put the time to better use writing new pages for the site. The forum does what it needs to. I just have to remind myself of that next time I'm tempted to fiddle.

I found one problem last night (or rather this morning at about 5am) and the support bods at phpbb.com helped me to fix it. Other updates have gone well but I had installed more mods since the last one, none of which were really needed. I've done programming too but not in php so I will refrain from messing with it too much until I've learned some.
