Be patient John we need to give people time to read the post and come up with ideas on how to do this,we have had some good ideas so far with measuring the pond in sections that's good filters have a known volume so that's good but what amount of water is in the pipe work and pumps ? how do we find this out :think: :think: :think: for the total volume of water in the pond :whistle:

easy you heat the pond by 10 degrees c ,its known how many joules it requires to heat 100 litres by one degree so a bit of mathematics and you have exact gallonage ..i know this is not the correct answer just a bit of laterall thinking . :laugh:

nice idea huso and im sure you have taken into consideration the atmospheric pressure,lateral heat dissipation into surrounding matter
and the wind chill affect, not to mention the salinity and hardness of the water in question :laugh:
