things are starting to take shape
its always a big leap forward when the concrete goes down
If a dogs sense of smell is so good, why do they need to get so close to the other dogs butt?

Hi Johnsb00

It seems to be taking ages.

I need to take out more soil next to get the sides vertical, then soil from the centre bottom area. I'm going to have a go at the blocks myself.

How does it work with pipes through a liner?

I've removed the shuttering, now starting to remove the soil at the sides and added some blocks to see how it will look, I feel it's coming on now...

it does seem rather large, in fact very large....yet it's only around 1ft on each side larger than the old footprint. It's coming in at 4.8m x 3.2m by 1.2m

I feel that too....Yippee

I'm currently using a multi bay KCfibreglass filter. I'm thinking of converting it to gravity fed but i'm not sure what that means. Do I simply cut a bigger hole in the inlet side? Any help here would be appreciated. Their web site says [KCFibreglass]that the filter can cope with 2,200 - 2,800 gallons, my pond will be around 3,800. I don't want to spend loads on filters so I was thinking of adding one of their vortexes and possibly changing the multi bay media. First bay is currently brushes, second Japanese mat and third is flocor. If i use a vortex will I need the brushes? Should I change the flocor to something else.

I was advised by a retailer to sell my filter on ebay and buy a nice shiny new one from him that in my opinion had less capacity in each chamber than my current filter and a small vortex that took up all of the space so lots of money spent for no gain.

looks like hard work, but as with any pond, the finished project will look brilliant, i,m sure, is it the MB10000 filter, if so i have the same one on a 2,900 gallon, i,d probably change the flocor to alfagrog or something better, karl would have shipped it out with alfagrog or springflow if youd have contacted/asked, asumeing you bought it from them new.

alfagrog isnt overly expensive anyhow, the other option i didnt go for was 30 litres of k1.

i just used another filter i had as well, otherwise i,d have probably gone for a vortex or a compact sieve, to up the filteration capicity more.

i,m useing at the moment, brushes, with course foam media to try to stop to much algae going into the Japanese matt bay, the filter wool, fine filter foam under the Japanese matt, alfagrog in the last bay, with two medium coarse foams & filter wool on top of that.

before i did that i found a lot of algae got back to the pond, then i put biocell in a box filter, filter wool, medium course & course filter foam.

gravity feeds i,m not clued up on, but i think it means from your bottom drain to a pump, back to rigid solvent weld pipe, then to a uv & your filter, other people will be able to advise you more.
