Tip of the day .....

Don,t plant up your veggie filter with leaf cuttings at 25 degs as they will be withered and dead in one hour .

I,ve put the second bag semi submerged untill they start to show some roots from the leaf axis

I expected them to wither at first but should have known better ..lol..

Months late as usual

Some pics of what i have done today , the tray with the big water cress in was planted when i first posted up , the Nitrate tests were nearly the same as my tap water ....virtually nil on the Api test kit .

It was originally planted up with a £1 bag of Sainsburys water cress .

Basket jobbie done on 27 th May with todays growth ...

Planted up with cuttings off the original basket ..

Theres then going to be 4 anoxic filter baskets under the trays . Basically i know after 3 - 4 years what my filter systym can handle so its just a play really to see if i can improve things

Any comments so far good or bad please :)

Forgot to say the cost is only 2 x 3 mtr lengths at £1.64 each for the solvent weld pipe (nearly enough left to do another one ) plus 4 x £1.45 for the connectors and a fiver for the filter grid ...all local so no postage and the water cress as said is £1.00 per bag .

Looking good Mel, what cat litter did you use?
