Easy pod set up

Post by magpiemale » May 13th, 2025, 5:41 pm

I have a 11000 pressure filter but saw a post where skeet ? Replied with a easy pod reply in 2018
My question is since i use a waterfall with and drainage using flexi tube can you use flexi tube hose with the easypod i have a pond 350 gallon with around 25 goldfish n tench and rudd.
My pump is 10,000 variable from 0 - 10,000
My flexi tube is maybe 40mm

I have an Easy Pod fed by flexi tube - no problem.

You may want to turn the output down as 10,000 is a bit high, I think Evolution Aqua recommend 6,000 which I have and works nicely. If too high, it will overflow through the middle and possibly not be as effective.

The output though is like a drainpipe, you will need to use some reducers to get it back into 40mm pipe if that’s what you want.
Evolution Aqua sell the various bits, I have a 3in elbow to push the output in the right direction.

Yeah the pump is turned down to 2600 i have a pressure filter system at the moment oase filterclear 11000 with a evolution aqua tempest as a fine filter.... but looking at the easypod just working out siteing it as the easypid needs to be pond level and my pond is raised 40 inches.

It is only the water level in the pod that needs to be higher than the edge of the pond, not the whole filter.
I would certainly not reduce the output pipe size of the pod at all. It will make it easier for you to overflow the pod.
When I had my EasyPod on a temporary pond, the return went over the pond side in 110mm soil pipe.

You would of thought the out flow pipe being high would cause back up in the pod.... my pond is 3 1/2 - 4 feet high like a raised patio pond

Why?
The water level coming out of the pipe is lower than the water level in the pod.
It's one of the reasons why you should not reduce the size of the outlet. You need a larger pipe for gravity flow than you would need on a pumped return where you are pushing the water through the pipe.
As this is a pump fed and gravity return, the pod is set up with a tall vertical pipe in the middle, the top of which is at the required water level.
When water is pumped into the filter, the pod fills until it overflows the top of that pipe to run back to the pond. The final outlet just needs to be lower than that.
The pod's inlet and outlet are 3" so they are large enough to allow it to be configured for either gravity in (from a bottom drain) and pump out, or pump in and gravity out.
I used 110mm (4") for the return pipe simply because I had some soil pipe to hand.

When I moved the pod to the new pond, I reconfigured it for gravity fed, pump return.
