I'm going to try and relax about it and just remove anything they don't eat. It's a bit hard to do this with the covers on tho! I need to get my underwater camera working, then I will see who is eating and who is not for sure!

I feed mine (koi) if they are looking for food but at this time of the year the koi are on the bottom most of the time but the sterlet gets a hand full of sturgeon pellets every evening as they must be feed all year around .

I got a pellet pump a few months ago and the Orchard fisheries koi premium are made into "sinkers" and the koi dont have to now surface for them and take them fairly quickly from the pond floor for this time of year .

Off Topicnote: the content in this box is not connected with the main topic subject
My chickens love the OF pellets pre soaked as well
Skinny people are easier to kidnap stay safe and eat pies

I feed just a sprinkling of of premium in the morning as the fish are still active but obviously alot slower than in warmer months, the sturgeon are down to one handfull in the morning and one in the evening.

Well some success today, my Koi tucked into some OF sinking sturgeon pellets
I think they are super-suspicious whenever the covers are opened and it's making them refuse to come up for floating food at the moment. Warm day today, pond at 13.3C :)

Ive got a 14" albino sterlet and hes very much on his pellets and putting on weight since i got him 2 months ago i feed him on 3mm yamitsu sturgeon pellets hes still very active i was worried because the koi really like his pellets and are taking them quite readily even though the water temperature is only 5 degrees ive been feeding 3 times a day morning noon and evening with no waste i hope the koi dont have problems with digestion.Funny thing is though iam also an angler and know in winter carp anglers use gallons of maggots, maggots are very high in protein fish in the wild eat lots of protein when its cold and dont come to any harm if they did there wouldn't be any fish left in the wild there again though iam new to keeping koi. :)

I am of the view that if they are active and want it they should get it, like most others. But I was frustrated when they didn't want it

Mostly, but could be applied to other situations too

My fish seem to have had an attitude readjustment this week and are now hanging out keenly under the flap in the covers when I open them, and darting around stuffing their faces with OF sinking pellets. The floating ones I put in yesterday seemed to be all gone although I didn't actually see them get eaten. They seem to think the sturgeon stuff is awesome   :beers:
