Synonyms: Millions Fish

Origin: Central America to Brazil. Generally captive bred in Asia.

Adult size: 6cm

Lifespan: 2-4 years

Sex: Males are smaller and more colourful than females. Males have a gonopodium (a stick-like modified anal fin used in breeding). Females have a rounded anal fin.

Minimum aquarium size: 60cm

Temperature: 18-28°C

Water chemistry: pH 5.5-8.5. Hardness 10-30°dGH

Diet: Omnivore; mosquito larvae, flake

Swimming level: Top, middle.

Compatibility: Peaceful community fish. Avoid mixing with fin nippers.

Comments: Guppies are easy to keep and tolerate a wide range of conditions. These livebearers are prolific breeders, producing around 30 young at a time.
