Synonyms: Lamprologus tretocephalus

Origin: Africa: Rock areas of Lake Tanganyika.

Adult size: 15cm

Lifespan: 5-8 years

Sex: Difficult to distinguish. Males may be slightly larger with darker fins.

Minimum aquarium size: 100cm

Aquarium decor: Rocks, sand, plants

Temperature: 24-26°C

Water chemistry: pH 7.6-8.0 Hardness 8-12°dGH

Diet: Omnivore; live, frozen, flake, vegetable supplement

Swimming level: Middle, bottom

Compatibility: Can be kept alone or in pairs. Very aggressive and territorial when spawning. Best kept in a specimen tank or with other fish that can cope with the aggression.

Comments: Provide plenty of hiding places in rocky formations and a sandy substrate.
