Common name: Brown Julie

Origin: Africa: Rocky areas on the south west side of Lake Tanganyika on the Zambian shoreline.

Adult size: 8cm

Lifespan: 7 years

Sex: Females are generally larger than males.

Minimum aquarium size: 60cm

Aquarium decor: Rocks, plants, sand

Temperature: 22-25°C

Water chemistry: 8.5-9.2pH . Hardness 8-14°dGH

Diet: Omnivore; Live, frozen, flake, tablet

Swimming level: Middle, bottom

Compatibility: A community cichlid that can be kept with other Tanganyika cichlids of a similar size except other Julies. They are territorial and aggressive towards other Julidochromis species.

Comments: Needs plenty of hiding places among rocks. Provide rocky formations with caves reaching to the water surface.
