Common name: Spotted Climbing Perch

Synonyms: Leopard Ctenopoma, Spotted Ctenopoma, Bushfish

Origin: Africa; Democratic Republic of Congo; tributaries and deep streams from Lisala to Kinshasa.

Adult size: 10-15cm

Sex: Males have patches of spines on the body.

Minimum aquarium size: 80cm

Aquarium decor: Plants, rocks

Temperature: 23-28°C

Water chemistry: pH 6-7.5. Hardness 6-20°dGH

Diet: Carnivore; live food, mosquito larvae, tubifex, small earthworms

Swimming level: Middle, bottom

Compatibility: Predatory and aggressive. Should be kept with similar sized fish.

Comments: Spotted Climbing Perch are labyrinth fish. Labyrinth fishes have a lung-like labyrinth organ that allows them to breathe air by gulping it at the water surface. Leave a gap of 2.5cm between the water surface and condensation lid to allow the fish to breathe.They are nocturnal and need plenty of hiding places.
